Lung disease cannot always be treated with a single remedy or procedure. Rebuilding lung function and managing symptoms is a long-term process. Every patient faces different challenges when diagnosed with pulmonary disease. In the Opelousas General Health System Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, we carefully assess your condition to create a personalized treatment plan. We want to know how this disease has affected your life so that we can get you back to enjoying your regular activities.
Conditions treated in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program include:
An interdisciplinary team of specialists designs a program focused on helping you manage breathing and becoming more independent in daily activities. Patients usually attend pulmonary rehab two to three times a week for several weeks or months. Your lung function is continuously monitored and assessed during the program to ensure the treatments work.
Programs include medically supervised and monitored exercise along with education and counseling to help you learn about and manage their lung disease or condition. Your program might also include nutritional counseling to ensure your diet contains the nutrients needed to improve your recovery.
In a guided rehab program, you have access to knowledgeable medical professionals who will monitor your progress and adjust the treatment plan to meet new goals. Our team will also educate you on things you can do at home to continue your recovery and prevent unnecessary complications.
You don’t have to manage lung disease alone. At OGHS, you have a close-to-home resource for high quality lung care in St. Parish County.
