What Sets Us Apart
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at Opelousas General is our state-of-the-art
cancer care facility. This center provides the technology and staff patients
need to tackle cancer in all of its stages and forms.
We feature the following:

Tumor Board – Tumor Board consists of a multidisciplinary team of physicians who meet
twice a month to discuss newly diagnosed cancers.

Multidisciplinary Team – Our team focus is on 'Patient-Centered Care' where each patient
is a unique biological, social, psychological, ethnic and spiritual being.
Our team is made up of multiple disciplines involving oncologists, surgeons,
radiologists, pathologists, nutritionists, social workers and more to
ensure that every aspect of your cancer care needs are addressed.

More Than a Second Opinion – Twice a month, our multidisciplinary team meets at Tumor Board
Conference where patient cases are presented by the diagnosing physician.
The team of specialists review each case presented, discuss and make treatment
recommendations, and walk patients through all of their options.
