Ways You Can Make a Difference
Often, we want to make a difference in our community but we don't know how to do it. Opelousas General Health System encourages you to explore these ways that you can make a difference!
One in every seven patients who enter the hospital is in need of blood. OGHS has partnered with Lifeshare, a Louisiana-owned blood center, to ensure a reliable source for our patients. If you would like to donate, OGHS hosts a blood drive every 56 days at our main campus from 1-5pm. For more information, please contact ...
Your time and talents are valuable and volunteer opportunities at OGHS are great ways to share those gifts. Our volunteers typically work 4-hour shifts and can be found as greeters or escorts, gift shop volunteers, and hospitality volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, please call 337-407-4447.
One organ donation can potentially save up to nine lives. OGHS has worked with the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) for many years in matching donors with patients in need. Deciding to become an organ donor is a noble commitment and LOPA makes it easy to honor your wishes. By visiting http://www.lopa.org/, you can sign up as an organ donor.
A financial contribution to the Opelousas General Health System Foundation is a meaningful way to make a difference in your community. The foundation funds several nonprofit agencies in St. Landry Parish as well as fund a number of full college scholarships in the healthcare field. To learn more about the foundation and giving opportunities, contact Tracey Antee at 337-678-4266.
