The OGHS Foundation recognizes the importance of higher education and is committed to providing annual scholarships to residents in St. Landry Parish who pursue a career in the healthcare field. This year marks the 16th anniversary of the OGHS Foundation Scholarship Program.
Scholarships may be applied to coursework in medical fields such as nursing, respiratory therapy, medical technology, medical records, medical office assistant, patient care technician and other healthcare related fields as approved by the Scholarship Review Committee.
The awarded scholarship may include full or partial payment of tuition at Louisiana State University at Eunice (LSUE), Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA), University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL), Louisiana State University (LSU), Southern University (SU), or South Louisiana Community College-TH Harris campus in Opelousas and Lafayette campuses only for the approved healthcare-related programs.
Scholarships are awarded upon the basis of academic background, probability
of graduation, maturity, financial status, availability of resources and
the needs of Opelousas General Health System. The amount of the scholarships
will vary with each recipient based upon the number of applicants, the
amount of funding available and your chosen field.
Students who are eligible to receive TOPS will not qualify for this scholarship,
as it pays for tuition only similar to that of TOPS.
Applications must be submitted with two letters of recommendation. Scholarships will be awarded in May. The deadline to submit this application is March 07, 2025.
