Opelousas General Health System Welcomes Dr. Brian Adams to its Medical Staff

Lance Armentor, BSM, MHA, President & CEO of Opelousas General Health System announces that Dr. Brian L. Adams will join the OGHS Medical Staff effective April 2025. Dr. Adams specializes in general pediatrics.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Adams to our medical staff,” said Armentor. “He has extensive experience in pediatric care. His military background coupled with his knowledge and experience with inpatient, outpatient, and newborn care fits perfectly with our plans to further expand our capacity to serve our community’s pediatric population. He will be a huge asset not only to our medical staff, but to the community as well.”

Prior to joining OGHS’ medical staff, Dr. Adams was in private general pediatric practice while providing pediatric hospitalist services and newborn nursery care at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital and Rapides Medical Center. Dr. Adams entered his private general pediatric practice after serving in the US Army for over 25 years, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel.

Dr. Adams completed his medical training at F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda, Maryland, and completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington. Dr. Adams is board certified in pediatrics and is a Fellow of American College of Pediatricians. He is a member of the Society of US Army Flight Surgeons and serves as assistant professor of pediatrics at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Monroe, LA.

He joins the staff of Opelousas General Health System’s Rural Health Clinic. The medical practice is located at 1200 Hospital Drive, Suite 5., next to Opelousas General Main Campus. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the office at 337-678-4285.
