Opelousas General Health System Welcomes Dr. Sarah Sharkey to the OGHS Medical Staff

Lance Armentor, BSM, MHA, President & CEO of Opelousas General Health System announces that Dr. Sarah Sharkey has joined the OGHS Medical Staff. She is a board-certified Pulmonologist, specializing in both Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine. Her scope of services will include general pulmonology, pulmonary hypertension, management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, and other chronic lung conditions, as well as acute care management.

Originally from Port Barre, Dr. Sarah Sharkey is the daughter of Dr. Paula Sharkey, a Radiologist who has over 25 years of service at Opelousas General Health System. Dr. Sarah Sharkey completed her medical training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and completed her Internal Medicine residency at University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She was the Chief Resident in charge of quality improvement and patient safety at Raymond G. Murphy Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albuquerque, and then was an assistant professor, clinician educator and nocturnist in the hospital medicine division at University of New Mexico. She went on to complete her Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at LSU in Shreveport before returning home.

She joins Opelousas General Pulmonology Clinic alongside Drs. Amer Raza and Sana Ali, and physician assistant Rebecca Tate-Richard. The office is located at Opelousas General Medical Complex North, Building A, 1270 Attakapas Dr., Suite 404. Office hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m. to noon. Referral appointments can be made by calling the office at 337-943-7186.
