OGHS Welcomes Dr. Deborah Johnson to our Medical Staff

In a continuing effort to provide high quality, oncologic services to Opelousas and neighboring communities, Kenneth Cochran, President/CEO of Opelousas General Health System, announced today that OGHS will be partnering with Lafayette General Health to provide medical oncology services.

OGHS is collaborating with Cancer Center of Acadiana, owned by Lafayette General Health. This collaboration will provide the latest innovation in medical oncology (chemotherapy) treatment.  Cancer Center of Acadiana has several locations in the Acadiana region.

“Patients don’t need to travel outside of our community for nationally recognized cancer treatment.  Our highly qualified, experienced team of physicians and clinical staff are specially trained to treat all types of cancer.  This comprehensive approach to caring for cancer patients is a great addition to medical services within our region,” said Cochran.

The medical oncology services will be provided by Dr. Deborah Johnson, Hematology/Oncology at Cancer Center of Acadiana at Opelousas General Health System, located at 627 East Prudhomme Street, on the Main Campus of Opelousas General Health System.  “We are extremely excited to be able to offer the latest advancements in medical oncology by partnering with Lafayette General Health,” Cochran added.

Dr. Deborah Johnson, Hematologist/Oncologist will begin practicing at Cancer Center of Acadiana at Opelousas General Health System on Monday, November 30th. She is transferring her practice from the CCA location at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Dr. Johnson, a native of Opelousas, has years of experience dealing with some of the most severe cases of cancer.  Complimented by her genuine warmth and compassion for every patient, OGHS is pleased to welcome her to the medical staff.
