Education
Education provided to the community and our patients at Opelousas General Health System include:
CPR Classes (Health Care Provider, Heart Saver & First Aid)
The Education Department offers CPR classes every Monday, Tuesday & Thursday at 8AM & 1PM. Classes are approximately 3 hours in length and limited seating is available. Please call in advance to reserve your appointment at 337-594-3801.
Safe Sitter Courses (offered during summer vacation)
The Education Department also offers 2-day Safe Sitter classes during summer while students are on school break. Safe Sitter is a medically-accurate, up-to-date babysitting course that teaches young teens (ages 11-13) life and safety skills. For more information, call the Education Department at 337-594-3801.
Pre-Natal Classes
The Labor & Delivery Department offers pre-natal classes every other month (sometimes every month) on Wednesday's for 3 weeks at 6PM. Education provided to the community and our patients at Opelousas General Health System include:
Lactation Services
OGHS has a staffed International, Board-Certified Lactation Consultant who offers inpatient and outpatient lactation consults for our breast-feeding patients. More information can be viewed under the "Women's Services" tab, or you can call Lauren David at 337-594-3804 or 337-948-3011 (Ext. 3960).
