OGHS Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship Applications Now Available
The OGHS Foundation is pleased to offer scholarships for the sixth year to students intending to pursue a career in the medical field. As the future approaches, healthcare professionals will be in high demand, and the Foundation wants to ensure that Saint Landry Parish is prepared by offering financial assistance to healthcare students.
Scholarships may be used for courses to further education in medical fields such as nursing, respiratory therapy, radiologic technology, medical records, medical office assistant, patient care technician and other healthcare related fields as approved by the scholarship committee.
Scholarship amounts may include partial or full payment of tuition at Louisiana State University at Eunice (LSUE), Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA), University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) or Louisiana Technical College-TH Harris campus for the approved healthcare related programs.
Qualifications for eligibility include:
- Must be a resident of St. Landry Parish
- Must have applied to one of the above listed institutions for one of the approved healthcare related programs.
Scholarships are awarded upon the basis of academic background, probability of graduation, maturity, financial status, community involvement, availability of resources and the needs of Opelousas General Health System. The amount of the scholarships will vary with each recipient based upon the number of applicants, the amount of funding available and your chosen field. Students who are eligible to receive TOPS will not qualify for this scholarship, as it pays for tuition only similar to that of TOPS.
Applications must be submitted with two letters of recommendation. Scholarships will be awarded in May. The deadline to turn in applications for this scholarship is April 5. 2013.
